Morning Thoughts:
A photographic portrait is a picture of someone who knows he is being photographed.
– Richard Avedon
He’s right you know. I was never impressed with him. His persona or his work!
It Is OUR Job as the Artist to make Our Subject/Client feel relaxed to be able to have a “Look” that conveys a part of their Personality.
That’s the Trick really. In the early days of Photography when the Current Technology was usually an Hour or Hour and Half for exposure time.
You had to get into a comfortable position and Not move. If you look closely at some of the images from those days. You can just barely make out that those chairs had braces to support the person’s head and arms.
In todays technology everyone has a camera in one form or another!
Whether it be a Phone Camera, a Mirror-less or a DSLR as Long as the
Image conveys “The Look”. The person’s personality that is good as well.
But!! If one doesn’t possess the “Skill” or even some of the skill of “Portraiture”.
Then making an attempt using a Phone Camera is Not Going to get Good Results. Are there good results from a Phone Camera? Yeah of course. But the average person results are all over the Internet and Social Media. What do YOU think?
It’s Much more than taking a “Click”. That’s why if you would Like something to Use on a Web Site. A Business Card or Publication. You Can Contact someone who has that Skill. Who has that Training to get the Job Done that you can be proud to show off.
That is a Portrait Artist.
